    Senior Designer

Gemma is one of JUMP’s Senior Designers, starting here in 2021. She is always working on a multitude of projects, always looking to inject colour and animation where she can.

Born in Durham, raised in the sticks, settled in Jesmond. Gemma would love to have an inspirational story about how she always knew she wanted to be a designer, but in truth, she found herself at 20 years old, on the dole, not sure on her future. Encouraged (or coerced) by family to go to university with the advice of ‘just pick something you enjoy’ - Gemma knew she had creative bones in her body and with Visual Communication and Design being her favourite subject during her A-Levels, she chose Graphic Design and never looked back.

Studying Graphic Communication at Newcastle College was where she truly discovered her passion for design and managed to secure a first-class degree under her belt.

Gemma loves the varied breadth of projects she gets to work on at JUMP, and gets giddy seeing her work out and about as it gives her a huge sense of pride and accomplishment.

After having joined the team during lockdown, Gemma was keen to bring the JUMP social life back from the ashes, and along with fellow Senior Designer Laura, plans monthly socials to bring the team together, whether that’s a classic pub visit, games in the office, or a competitive game of laser tag.

A serial hobbyist, Gemma’s always wanting to try new things, and occasionally getting a little too obsessed (until the next exciting new thing comes along). Her past and present portfolio of undertakings include the following: reading, dodgy DIY, climbing, film photography, coastal runs, cleaning, podcasts, thrifting, vintage ikea, trash TV, good TV (US Office) and pottery.

Go for it, it’s not as scary as it seems.
